# Understanding the invoice - Body of the invoice

The body of the invoice allows adding and customizing an invoice for a customer.

### Elements of the invoice body

#### Invoice date

The working date applies automatically. It is possible to change the date of the current invoice. The date can be in the past or in the future.

#### Invoice number

An invoice number will be assigned automatically upon printing if none has been assigned manually. It is possible to change the billing settings for the next number in the sequence.

#### Locked

This button indicates the status of the invoice. A locked invoice can no longer be modified.

* * *

#### Sold to

A customer must be selected to start an invoice. Dynamic search is available in the "Customer Code" cell; you can enter the customer's code or name. Search is also available.

#### Ship to

The delivery address is usually a copy of the billing address (Sold to). It is possible to select a different delivery address using the pencil to the right of the delivery address and choose one of the customer's addresses.

#### Add a product and service

This button allows you to **add** a product on the next line or **insert** a product between two lines.

* * *

#### Add a message

This button allows you to add or insert a message into the body of the invoice. The message will be displayed below the selected product line. To add a message at the bottom of the invoice, use the Billing Message found in the Settings section.

#### Create the invoice

To complete the invoice, you must:

-   Select the required products and services
-   Specify the quantity
-   Verify or modify the unit price

#### Actions

This button gives access to other functions for the selected product concerning discounts, taxes, and quantities for the category.

#### Summary

The Summary contains the summary of the amounts that will be billed and takes into account discounts, taxes, and payments (partial or full). This information will appear on the printed invoice.

#### Terms

The payment terms selected at the time of creating the invoice will be applied. The displayed information comes from the customer's file or the customer profile to which this customer is linked. This information can be modified on the current invoice as long as it is not locked.

#### Parameters

The parameters come from the selected customer's file and/or the customer profile to which this customer is linked. This information can be modified on the current invoice as long as it is not locked.

#### **❓I have several lines on my invoice and I would like to see more lines in the body of the invoice. Is it possible to change the layout of the invoice preparation?**

Yes. The "Hide parameters" button allows you to view more lines for the invoice. To display the customer information again, click the "Show parameters" button. This view will not affect the printing of the final invoice.
