# Add a product and service

Products and services are mandatory when adding an invoice. The user determines the nature of the item. Sigabill will not distinguish whether the item is a product or a service.

### Add a product and service

1.  Go to menu **Products and services**
2.  Select item "**Products and services"**
3.  Click on the button Add
4.  Complete the information for this product and service in the various tabs:
5.  1.  Identification
    2.  Taxes
    3.  Price
    4.  Discounts

#### What is the difference between a product and a Product Category?

The items used on an invoice are products or services. Products and services are grouped by Product and Service Category. Categories are what are used when importing invoices. Each category will be linked to an account in the Chart of Accounts in SigaFinance EVO.

#### Do I have to create a product and service to invoice my customers?

Yes! It is not possible to create an invoice without selecting a product and service.

#### I need to invoice an equipment item that is part of fixed assets. Is this possible?

Yes. Simply create a category that will be linked to the asset account and a product that will allow the sale of the equipment.
